In the event of a called “snow day”
The superintendent of schools will be calling every family
in the school district to announce school closings (computer
generated message). The call will also specify whether child
care will be open or closed for the day. If the school does
not have your updated information, you might miss this
important announcement. As always, the TV channels will
announce school closings as they receive the information
from us.
If we are open, we will not open the doors until 7:00 AM.
That is to allow time for the parking lot to be plowed and
also to allow our staff members time to arrive here safely.
Because snow days are unanticipated and cannot be scheduled,
any family who uses our services is eligible to come on a
snow day. If you plan to bring your child on a snow day,
please note that there is a charge for that day of care (the
difference between your regularly scheduled day and a full
day). It will show up on your invoice.
All children attending on a snow day should come prepared to
play in the snow. That includes boots, hat, gloves, a warm
coat and snow pants or a few pair of pants for protection
and to change into when the snow penetrates the clothing and
melts. They will need extra socks as well. Please note that
those who do not bring the proper clothing to play in the
snow will not be permitted to do so. We have some extra
gloves and hats on hand, but we cannot guarantee that they
will be available from day to day.
If you are still unsure whether there is a called snow day
or not, or you are unsure as to whether childcare is open,
please call the child care number after 7 AM. If we are
open, the number will be busy or someone will answer your
call.
We stay open until 6 PM unless we lose power or an ice
storm develops, in which case parents will be called to pick
up their child. Please anticipate longer travel time and
leave in time to pick up your child before or by 6 PM.
