* * * SPECIAL HOCKEY PROGRAM OPPORTUNITY
AVAILABLE * * *
Over the course of the past three and a half years, Uxbridge Public Schools has
forged many new and exciting partnerships with community groups and
organizations for children with disabilities. Most recently, we have initiated a
partnership with Special Olympics of Massachusetts for Uxbridge, MA. children
with disabilities. Well, now, the Uxbridge Public Schools is pleased to bring to
your attention the fact that the the Pawtucket Youth Hockey Association
(PYHA) has opened its enrollment in an effort to offer a special hockey program
for children with disabilities. The Department of Pupil Personnel Services of
the Uxbridge Public Schools wishes to extend this opportunity for your son or
daughter with disabilities to participate in youth hockey.
PYHA is proud to host the only ice hockey program in Rhode Island for children
with disabilities. Each Saturday from October through March, children ages 5 to
16 with autism, down syndrome, and severe learning disabilities come to Lynch
Arena from all parts of Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts to have the
opportunity to learn the basics of skating and hockey.
PYHA coaches and volunteers donate their time and skills to work with each of
these future players in a USA Hockey sanctioned instructional program. All
players registered under USA Hockey.
