UHS Senior of the Month

March 2010

Jacquelyn Gianetti

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Gianetti is without doubt one of the most gifted students at Uxbridge High School. Whether she in the classroom or on the stage, her passion for the arts is clear, and her intelligence and many talents have enriched all of us. Jackie’s conscientious, energetic, polite, and insightful personality conveys inspiration and originality in whatever endeavor she takes up. Her most recent role as Betty Rizzo in the UHS production of Grease is a testament to her ability to “seize the role” and make it her own. Jackie’s terrific portrayal of Rizzo highlights her passion for, and unique style in, the theater. These traits can also be seen during her performances in concert choir, on the athletic field or in leadership roles; Jackie represented UHS at Massachusetts Girls State in 2009 and at National Young Leaders State Conference in 2006. Jackie’s academic prowess and determination impress her instructors. She brings insight to all of her work and often “incorporates the surprising, the arcane, or the whimsical” into projects and papers. Her decision to take three advanced placement courses her senior year is yet another example of Jackie’s decision to take the road less traveled. Jackie is interested in pursuing studies in Expressive Arts Therapy and/or Theatre. She aspires to unveil the undeniable beauty of the world and diverse cultures and will do so with insight, flair, and perseverance. These attributes are apparent in her volunteer work in theater at Taft Elementary, teaching French songs to third graders, participating in 30-hour fasts to raise money for starving children in Africa, and teaching CCD. Jackie excels in all areas; her positive attitude, honesty, generosity and diligence are a pleasure to experience. Jackie Gianetti has truly made Uxbridge High School a richer place.

Joshua Poole

Josh Poole has a character equal to none. His ability to maintain that fine balance between having fun, being respectful and preserving the learning environment attests to his mature and polite personality. Josh prides himself on his responsible and supportive nature. He works hard and is conscientious of those around him. This is evident as he seeks extra help to master difficult concepts, is consistently prepared for classes, and is an active participant with a positive attitude in projects and class discussions. Josh holds a solid A- average in his honors level classes. He is undecided about his future educational track in college next year. When not in the classroom, Josh is found preparing for his next track meet. A solid leader for the indoor and outdoor teams, Josh has been elected co-captain since 2008. His diligence in training and preparation has made him a solid competitor and contributor to the team. Josh does not expect anything more from others than he is willing to give himself. Both teachers and coaches alike appreciate this quality in Josh. Josh has participated in the annual Toys-for-Tots party sponsored by Uxbridge High School for the last three years. His smile and gentle demeanor made the atmosphere a pleasure for all involved; his dedication to this program will be missed. Josh Poole is a very steady presence in Uxbridge High School. His common sense and humor will guide him to great success as he continues to focus on new and different challenges. Good luck to you, Josh!
