UHS Senior of the Month

November 2009

Kayleigh Hodgdon

Kayleigh impresses the faculty with her work ethic, maturity and her abundant level of positive energy. She is actively involved in academics and extra-curriculars at Uxbridge High School. She brings a warm passion to her involvement here and is constantly looking for new opportunities to expand her contributions to the community. Kayleigh is a diligent student, maintaining a solid A average. She challenges herself with AP and honors level courses, demonstrating her desire to build an academic foundation that will allow her to be quite successful at the college level. Kayleigh aspires to be an actress, a journalist or a politician. She is interested in pursuing a major in film studies and or film production. With a skill set that includes responsibility, leadership, loyalty and ambition, Kayleigh will find success in whichever path she follows. Or given her creative talents, she’ll find a way to combine all three. Kayleigh’s talents are also noticed in athletics as she is a three sport athlete competing in field hockey, cheerleading and tennis. Her support of peers is evident as she has been elected captain in cheerleading and tennis. Her leadership was acknowledged by the staff during her sophomore year when she was elected to represent UHS for the Hugh O’Brien Youth (HOBY) Leadership Program. Kayleigh continues to volunteer with HOBY for such events as the Life Is Good Day on the Boston Common. Additionally, her peers in Student Council elected her to represent UHS as a Regional Student Advisory Council Representative this fall. Kayleigh has also found the spotlight on stage through the Milford Performing Arts Center’s production of The Princess Bride. In between the academics, athletics and theatre, Kayleigh volunteers her time as the offensive statistician for the varsity football team, the annual Toys For Tots Holiday Party, and the Boston Health and Fitness Expo. Kayleigh is one leader that the Class of 2010 and the UHS community are proud to follow.

Jason Silbor

If there is one thing Jason Silbor is always guaranteed to give you, it is an electric smile. Jason is a very polite and courteous young man with a strong sense of character. His willingness to help out does not go unnoticed. When injured this football season, Jason immediately took on the role of “coach,” assisting not only his varsity teammates but also the freshman football team. The positive tone he sets through his decision making and work ethic is appreciated by his coaches, teachers and peers. This is evident as he has been elected captain in three-sports for his senior year: football, basketball and baseball. Jason was also selected as the MIAA Student Ambassador for UHS in 2008-09. Academically, Jason values education, takes his classes seriously, and has earned a solid B average, ranking in the top half of the Class of 2010. He has a strong interest in history and learning about the past but his true passion is sports. Jason is interested in pursuing a degree in sports management. Outside of school, Jason has volunteered his time as a coach at the Uxbridge Youth Baseball clinic. Jason is always looking for a good chuckle but is sensitive to the needs of those around him. Jason’s optimistic, easygoing personality is a joy to meet in the halls of UHS.
