Our Community Artist Studios and Gallery

The Visiting Artist Studios

The Visiting Artist Studios and Millworks Gallery were completely lost in the Bernat Mill fire of July 2007. Currently we have not been able to find an affordable new home for the VAS or the Gallery but the concept of the VAS lives on through the many artists that are still connected through the school district, the After Hours program and the Blackstone Valley Artist Association.

Local artists continue to offer classes focused on their specific interest through both the after school and evening components of the After Hours program. Please check out the After Hours link for more information.

The staff of the VAS will continue to partner with the community during events such as Holiday First Night, providing opportunities for us all to appreciate the arts.

What VAS was and hopefully will be some day again…

The flourishing artistic community of Uxbridge Massachusetts is enhanced through the Uxbridge Public Schools’ Visiting Artist Studios. Artists benefit from inexpensive studio space who in turn share their skill set with students and the community.

The open studio space is utilized by resident artists for vacation camps and a variety of art classes for creative minds of all ages.

The Visiting Artist Studios provides studio and open work space for up to 5 adult and 2 student artists. Visiting artists work with Uxbridge students and teachers and offer community workshops focused on their discipline.

The classes and workshops offered by our visiting artists change often so stop by and grab a brochure or send a request for info to kknapik@uxbridge.k12.ma.us . We will be happy to add you to our mailing list and keep you updated.

Art Camps and Classes

During school vacations and professional development days the Visiting Artist Studios run Creative Kid Camps. Many of the camps are theme-based with the underlying message that everyone can use art as a means of self-expression. We break our sessions into two age groups, students grade K-3 and 4-7.

Studio artists also offer classes for all ages, from preschool mom-and-me classes to adult classes and everyone in between. Topics vary depending on the artists in residence so check back often.

The studio also offers classes for scout troops who need to earn badges that related to art or who are just looking for an exciting arts and crafts adventure.

Millworks Gallery: A Community Art Gallery

The gallery provides a space where students and other community members can showcase their artwork. The hours of the gallery vary so it’s best to call before planning a visit.
