MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT
1. To make each student mathematically literate.
2. To develop the student’s ability to logically think with numbers.
3. To develop mathematical skills which will enable the student to extend his/her experiences in mathematics and apply them in other areas of life.
4. To provide an opportunity for discovery and creativity at the level of the student’s ability.
5. To develop favorable attitudes toward mathematics.
6. To make students aware of the career information available and to understand the importance of mathematics in their future.

NOTES:
1. All students enrolled in fund of Alg/Geom I, II, and III, in Consumer Math, and in Algebra 1 are required to have a Scientific Calculator. The department has selected the TI-34 calculator for use.
2. If, in specific courses other calculators are used, they will be supplied to students.
3. Students in all Algebra II, Functions & Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Calculus courses must purchase their own TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator.
4. It is recommended for testing purposes (MCAS, PSAT, ETC) that students complete Algebra I– Geometry – Algebra II by the end of sophomore year.
5. It is recommended that Fund of Alg/Geom I, II, and III be completed by the end of sophomore year.
6. Functions/Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus must both be completed by the end of the junior year if the student plans to take any Calculus offering.
