Prevocational Life Skills Class

May/June Update

Congratulations to the class of 2010! This year our program graduated two students. Best Wishes to Wesley and James. Congratulations also to our senior peer tutors Brianna, Kym, Katie, Shawna, Nicole, Peter and Jackie. All their hard work with our class and around UHS this year is much appreciated. They will be missed. A special Thank You to Peter for his help at graduation. Thanks also to Mr. Smutok and Mr. Dimeglio. The ramp was perfect. Your students did a great job.

The class has spent time out in the community these past few weeks as well as having enjoyed some special in-school activities. We went to Harry’s Pizza for lunch one day and students placed and independently purchased their own meals. We visited local businesses such as Saint’s Deli and Honey Farm too. We hope to walk into town at least once more before school lets out. At UHS, students planned and prepared their own lunches as part of an end of the year project for Life Skills. The menu included such items as chicken fettucini alfredo, homemade pizza, salad, grilled tomato and cheese and buffalo chicken. Everything tasted wonderful and was cooked perfectly.

Outside, students have been getting some exercise through walks and physical education activities with Mr. Horan and Mr. Catalano. The fine weather has made outdoor PE quite enjoyable.

As the school year winds down, I would like to remind parents that the last day of school is June 23rd. The last three days of school are ½ days. Dismissal is at 10:30 a.m. on the 21st and 22nd. Dismissal on the 23rd is at 10:12 a.m. The summer program starts on July 6th. The hours will be from 9-12 for four weeks.

Thanks!

Leslie Lesperance
