Welcome to Computer!

Our eighth grade students will be creating root word databases using Microsoft Access. The databases are intended to reinforce the root words, prefixes and suffixes they are learning in their core classes. They will be creating worksheets and Interactive PowerPoint presentations using these words.

Our seventh grade students will be learning how to do effective Internet research. They will be studying famous artists, writing reports, creating art and writing poems while using the computer.

Fifth grade students will be exploring Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher to create various products. They will be using Type to Learn 3 to improve typing skills. Ask them about the new Speedskins. Student projects will include newsletters and multimedia presentations.

Sixth grade students will continue using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher to build on their skills from last year. They will be writing riddles, creating presentations, and a small business project. They will also continue to improve typing skills.   

                                                                                           Health Education

The following are activities/ projects that classes will be working on in Health this year:

Grade 8– Exploring and reporting on the history of disease and how it has shaped our world.

Grade 7– The NEW food guide pyramid and why the changes are important to the American lifestyle. Researching OTC, prescription and illicit drugs.

Grade 6-Take a trip through the human digestive system and see just what happened to that cookie you ate for breakfast! Compare legal and illegal drugs and answer the question: Huh? Are you sure about that?

Grade 5-Learn what tobacco companies are doing to try to get kids ages 7-12 hooked as quickly as possible to make the most money from you (and what you can do about it)! Create a KIDS ONLY restaurant and learn how to choose the healthiest foods for your menu!


Spanish

¡Hola!

We are off to a great start in Spanish classes this year. We will have many fun and innovative projects in all
our Spanish classes

Grade five students will create an Alphabet Book.

Grade six will design a menu in Spanish of their favorite restaurant.

Grade seven will be creating a pronoun collage

Grade eight will construct or create a diagram of a house.

These projects will be done during class time.
