Language with Mr. Raymond
Students will be responsible for 20 spelling
words every week of the school year.
Students will cover a new concept everyday
in English and complete homework assignments on this new
concept.
Each term two book reports will be required.
One will be independent and the other will be read together
in class.
Students should always have their own
paperback book to read when time permits in class.
Math with Mrs. Ekstrom
The district has adopted a new version of
Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley text to be used in grade 6.
Students will be covering topics in all math strands
including:
Number Sense and Operations
Patterns, Relations, and Algebra
Geometry
Measurement
Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability
Students will be required to have 4 one
subject notebooks for math (one for each quarter) and a
composition book (to keep an MCAS portfolio).
Science with Mrs. Ekstrom
The Grade 6 Science Curriculum explores
Earth Science. Some of the topics include:

Earth
▪ The
Earth’s Changing Surface
▪
Weather & Atmosphere
▪
Astronomy
Due to a limited number of text books,
science books will remain at school and will only be allowed
to go home if they have been properly signed out with Mrs.
Ekstrom. Students will be using an interactive notebook in
class.
Social Studies with Mr. Raymond
Students will be involved an innovative,
student – centered History Alive Approach.
We will also be using a text book in class
covering world geography. Students will keep an interactive
notebook in class this year .

Homework Policy
Each time a student misses a homework
assignment, they will sign the "Missing Homework Book". Once
they have accumulated 3 missing homework assignments, they
will receive a detentio n.
Reminder to Parents
Parent support in necessary to ensure a
successful school year. Please check your child’s agenda
daily and sign in the designated area to signal that they
have completed their required assignments. Every Monday
students will receive the homework assignments for the week.
Please be aware that sometimes we must modify the
assignments and it is the student’s responsibility to update
the changes. We will also send a photocopy of the week’s
homework assignments to be displayed at home.
