Dear Whitin Families, 

The following is the update for the week of November 14, 2021. 

Blue Forms: Recently blue Photo/Video OPT forms were sent home to parents as we are working to update our iPass system.  These forms are to be completed only if you DO NOT wish to have your child’s photo be used on our website, on our various school social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram or in local and school newspapers. The form should only be completed and returned to school if you OPT OUT of having your child’s photo used in school publications.  

The Whitin Student Council is running a food drive for the People First Food Pantry.  See flyer for more details.

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for December 2 & 3.  This year’s conferences will be remote.  Teachers will be reaching out to families with links to sign up through Signup Genius.  There will be evening conferences on Thursday, December 2 and afternoon conferences on Friday, December 3

1st Trimester Report Card will be distributed on Friday, December 10th

Whitin PTO: 

Square 1 Art orders are due by November 19, 2021.  Order forms which include your child’s artwork were sent home this week.  Please ask your child if you have not received the form.  

Urban Air Night: will be held on January 6th from 4-8pm.

Bussing: Please note if a bus has not arrived at the bus stop within 15-20 min of pick up time especially after a storm seek alternative transportation if possible and let the school know.

Afternoon dismissal changes: If there is a change in your child’s dismissal during the school day please call the office rather than email the classroom teacher.  Unfortunately teachers may not see the message until after dismissal.  The staff in the office will be sure to get the message to the student before dismissal.   

From Nurse Gauthier: 

If your child has any of the following symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, please keep them home from school and contact your school nurse and pediatrician.

COVID-19 symptoms list (as of 8/18/21): 

• Fever (100.0° Fahrenheit or higher), chills, or shaking chills  
• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath 
• New loss of taste or smell 
• Muscle aches or body aches 
• Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough) 
• Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms 
• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea when in combination with other symptoms 
• Headache when in combination with other symptoms 
• Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms 
• Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in  combination with other symptoms

If your child is identified as a close contact at school you will be notified via email. 

If your child is identified as a close contact outside of school, please keep your child home and contact your school nurse.
