Whitin Weekly September 1st

Whitin Weekly

Dear Whitin Families,

The following is the update for the week of September 1, 2019.

It is hard to believe that summer is over and the new school year is starting.  I will start by welcoming our incoming fourth grade parents and new families to the Whitin Weekly.  This update will be sent on Sunday to provide families with the necessary information for the week as well as upcoming events.  Please read through the Whitin weekly each week so that you can stay up to date with all that is happening at Whitin.

The faculty and staff as well as the administrators, custodial staff and maintenance department have worked extremely hard this summer to prepare Whitin for the start of school.  I took one last tour of the building on Friday afternoon to see if we are ready to go. I could not be prouder of the way the building looks. Classrooms are neat, organized and welcoming, bathrooms are freshly painted, floors are shiny, and the cafeteria is ready to serve lunches.  We have prepared a school that is welcoming and conducive to learning for our intermediate students. It is our hope that the students will appreciate their learning space and take pride in their school. This will be an expectation we will remind students of throughout the year.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  School begins at 7:40 AM. Students may be dropped off as early as 7:15 AM.  When students arrive on either a bus or dropped off by a parent, they are to go directly to the cafeteria or gym.  4th and 5th grade go to the cafeteria and 6th and 7th grade students go to the gym. On the first day, students will be picked up by their homeroom teachers and proceed to their homerooms.  Going forward students will be dismissed to their homerooms at 7:30 by the paraprofessionals in the cafeteria or gym.

Dismissal starts at 2:05.  All 4th grade students are dismissed first followed by 5th, 6th and 7th grade.  Bus riders dismiss from the front door of the school. Walkers and pick ups dismiss from the 5th grade exit which is located on the far right side of the school.
