In Grade 7 Science students will pursue in-depth study of the following three topics throughout the school year: (1) Populations and Ecosystems, (2) Earth's History, and (3) Chemical Interactions. While learning valuable content, students will also work on vital science process skills, such as observing, inferring, predicting, and writing testable hypotheses.
Collaborative learning experiences are an important part of science class. Students frequently work in small groups to reinforce concepts using critical thinking skills. The students could share their results in a lab report, orally, written with conclusions or questions, depending on the lesson. Collaborative inquiry skills help to lessen anxiety, and more importantly give each child the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the science content.
