COVID-19 MASK UPDATE 8-25-2021

Dear Extended Uxbridge Community:

On Wednesday, August 25, Massachusetts Commissioner of Education Jeffrey Riley mandated that all school employees, students, and visitors must wear masks indoors through at least October 1. Any medical exemption to the masking requirement must be validated by a physician’s letter, which should be sent to the student's school nurse. Any exemptions for behavioral or religious reasons should be directed to the school administration. In those exceptional cases, face shields may be considered an alternative. A parent note will not suffice for any exemptions.

Masks being worn on campus must fit over the nose and mouth. Individuals are permitted to remove the mask when outdoors or while eating. We will have masks available at each school campus site for those who do not have one upon arrival.

Finally, please note that this direction from the state supersedes any direction provided by individual towns and districts with respect to school buildings. Per the state order, the masking requirement begins on Thursday, August 26 for all individuals entering a school building, including staff, students, and visitors.

Feel free to reach out to your student’s school administration or school nurse, or consult the COVID-19 information page on our school district website, should you have any questions. We appreciate your continued flexibility, support, and understanding.
