Hello First Graders!!
As you know our school has been temporarily closed. This means we will not see you in our classrooms for a little while. We are disappointed by that because you all have worked so hard to learn some amazing things. We hope that you will take this time with your grown-up at home to make sure you practice and show off all the amazing things we have been working on in your classroom. The First Grade Teachers have spent some time putting together some resources for you to do that. If you have any questions or your grown-up has questions we are available by email to help you. We are so proud of the learning you have done so far this year and want you to keep it up! Many of the resources are online but we want you to remember to get outside everyday, spend time with your family playing games and reading stories and writing. You can write letters to friends, family or us! You can write an “opinion piece” about a book you read or a movie you watched. You can write about a small moment or write a story as a family about a character you create/imagine together. The possibilities are endless.
We know it is strange not being together with your friends while learning and grown-ups at home are different from us every day, but try to show them what enthusiastic learners you are everyday at Taft School. Keep learning those trick words, addition and subtraction math facts and read, read, read! We know you can do it! We look forward to being together again soon! We miss your smiling faces!

We have created a Remote Learning Page to provide a single point of entry to a menu of resources and activities to support students and families during the school closure. The Remote Learning Page includes resources developed by our teacher teams that cover all grade levels and disciplines. All activities are optional and are designed to keep students engaged in learning while out of school.
The Remote Learning Page also includes resources provided by our related service providers. These resources can be used by parents and guardians to support children during these times of change.
