NO SCHOOL – Monday, February 23, 2026 | Blizzard Conditions

Posted Date: 02/22/26 (01:06 PM)

Dear Uxbridge Public Schools Families, Staff, and Community Members,

Uxbridge Public Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, February 23, 2026. This decision has been made in response to a significant and dangerous winter storm that is now impacting our region, with the most severe conditions expected overnight and throughout the day on Monday.

As of 5:09 a.m. this morning, the National Weather Service – Boston/Norton has upgraded conditions to a Winter Storm Warning for the Worcester County area, including Uxbridge. The forecast calls for 10–18 inches of snowfall with snowfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour — and potentially 3–4 inches per hour at peak intensity — beginning overnight and continuing through Monday afternoon. Wind gusts of 40–60 mph are expected, with peak gusts occurring between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The National Weather Service has rated travel conditions as difficult to impossible, and the Winter Storm Severity Index rates impacts for our area as Major. For Families:

  • All school buildings are closed on Monday, February 23rd.
  • All school activities, extracurricular programs, and athletics are cancelled for the day.
  • Child Care will not be in operation.
  • Please monitor your district email and uxbridge.k12.ma.us for updates regarding Tuesday, February 24th.

For Staff:

Given the severity of this storm and the forecast for dangerous and potentially life-threatening travel conditions, ALL staff are directed to stay home on Monday, February 23rd. All school buildings and district offices will be closed. No staff are expected to report. This directive supersedes the standard snow day reporting procedures outlined in our internal guidelines.

Please do not travel to any district facility on Monday. Your safety is the priority. I will communicate updates regarding Tuesday’s schedule as early as possible — please monitor your district email.

I want to thank our entire school community for your continued patience, flexibility, and partnership. New England winters require all of us to adapt, and I am grateful that we are able to prioritize the safety of our students, families, and staff. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones this weekend.

Warm regards,

Dave Ljungberg, Superintendent
