RE:                  NO SCHOOL – Tuesday, February 24, 2026

Dear Uxbridge Public Schools Families, Staff, and Community Members,

Uxbridge Public Schools will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. All school buildings and district offices will be closed, and all school activities, extracurricular programs, athletics, and Child Care are cancelled for the day.

After consulting this afternoon with the Uxbridge Department of Public Works, I have been advised that the full clearing of town roads, school access points, sidewalks, parking lots, egresses, and fire hydrants will not be completed until later in the day on Tuesday. Given these conditions, it is not safe or feasible to open schools for students and staff tomorrow.

The National Weather Service has also confirmed that this evening’s temperatures will drop significantly, creating the potential for refreezing of any surfaces that have been treated or partially cleared. Tuesday is forecast to be the coldest day of the week.

For Families:

  • All school buildings are closed on Tuesday, February 24th.
  • All school activities, extracurricular programs, and athletics are cancelled for the day.
  • Child Care will not be in operation.
  • Please continue to monitor your district email and uxbridge.k12.ma.us for updates.
  • The School Committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening (2/24/2026) is also postponed.  (Town Hall will also be closed).

For Staff:

All staff are directed to stay home on Tuesday, February 24th. All school buildings and district offices are closed, and no staff are expected to report.

I want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank our extraordinary public safety partners who worked tirelessly throughout this storm to keep our community safe. The men and women of the Uxbridge Police Department, the Uxbridge Fire Department, and the Department of Public Works showed incredible dedication and professionalism in the face of truly challenging blizzard conditions. Their hard work — plowing roads, clearing hydrants, managing hazards, and keeping our community operational — makes it possible for us to return to school safely. We are deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice.

Thank you to our entire school community for your continued patience and flexibility. Please continue to stay safe, exercise caution on roadways, and watch for icy conditions as temperatures drop tonight.

Warm regards,

Dave Ljungberg, Superintendent
