CHROMEBOOK - SUMMER STORAGE
One process we use here in the Technology Department over the summer to maximize battery life, minimize power drain and keep the Chromebooks in a stable state is known as the Chromebook storage mode. If you or your child was issued an Uxbridge Public Schools Chromebook and will have it over the summer break but don't expect to use it that much, this may be a good process for you to use as well.
It works as follows:
1. Charge the battery to full (or at least 80%+).
2. While pressing and holding the Refresh and Power keys, unplug the charger from the Chromebook. (The Refresh key is the one with the arrow going in a circle, on the top row of keys.)
3. Release the Refresh and Power keys. The Chromebook will turn off and go into storage mode.
4. You can verify that it is in storage mode by simply waiting 10 seconds or so, and then pressing the power button. If it worked, it will not power back on.
To bring the Chromebook back out of storage mode, simply plug it in to the charger, wait 10-15 seconds and press the power button. You may need to press power once or twice depending on if you waited long enough.
That's all there is to it. Quick and easy, and a great way to keep the batteries from draining over the summer months.
